Can you believe that we are finished already?  Yes that’s right.  We have completed New Tribes Missionary Training phase 2.  You may recall that we asked you all to pray for us as we made a decision of whether to stay another semester.  We did decide to stay and it was a very beneficial time for us spiritually.

Exciting news! On April 11, 1998, at 7:00 a.m.  Nicholas Cole Crockett was born.  He was 7 pounds 14.5 ounces and 20 inches long.  Thank you so much for praying for a healthy baby and safe pregnancy.  Laurel started with a dangerously low-lying placenta, but after much prayer, it planted much higher.

Our time at New Tribes Missions Institute was very profitable.  We asked the leadership to stay a third semester and are thankful for that extra time in which we were able to personalize a lot of the Biblical teaching that we received.  Romans 6, 7, and 8 would be the best way to summarize what we were learning and putting into practice.

1. To Know Jesus Christ
2. To Reckon (believe) on Him and my position with Him
3. To Yield to Him instead of exalting my flesh as being capable

Our next step will occur in August when we will move to Camdenton Missouri for Language School.  This is the last phase before we will go on “deputation” and on to the field.  Our current long term goal is to participate in establishing a church in a tribe in Papua New Guinea.  While we are in Language School, we will learn the many vital skills necessary to learn another language and culture and translate the  Bible into that language.

In the mean time...  We plan on spending this summer ‘98 in Deltona, Florida with Laurel’s parents and our home church family.  I plan on working, but don’t know yet which job I will select.  Towards the end of our summer, we plan on visiting our friends and family in Texas.

In Papua New Guinea alone there are more than 800 different languages.
